"The house is already my mom's": Her husband threw her barefoot from the hospital with her newborn to steal her estate, but he made 1 fatal mistake that led to absolute ruin.

Lucía was thrown out on the street like a piece of trash. Barefoot, wearing 1 iodine-stained hospital gown and her newborn son shaking against her chest.

That was the scene that froze Don Arturo's blood when he got out of his truck in front of the emergency room of 1 public hospital in Guadalajara. It was December 1st, early morning, the thermometer was 6 degrees and 1 freezing drizzle hit the bones. Don Arturo came with a heart beating with joy, carrying 1 yellow blanket, 1 baby seat and 1 huge floral arrangement he bought that same afternoon. Her goddaughter Lucía, whom she had raised like her own blood after she became an orphan, had just become a mother. He just wanted to hug her and promise that that child would never lack anything in life.

But the smile was wiped out at once.

He found Lucia curled up next to the glass doors, with her feet completely bare on the wet concrete bench. Her hair was stuck to her forehead from cold sweats and purple lips. She held the baby wrapped in barely 1 thin, torn sheet, squeezing it against her body to give him what little warmth he had left.

—Lucia! What happened my girl —asked Arturo, dropping the flowers to the ground.

She looked up. He admitted it, but his eyes were completely dry and empty, like those of someone who had just lived 1 nightmare in flesh.

Without hesitation, Arturo took off his thick slab, wrapped it with it and carried it almost in veil to the truck. Covered his frozen feet with 1 towel he was bringing in the seat, turned on the heat to the highest level and checked on the little one. The baby breathed calmly, ignoring the cruelty with which this world was receiving him.

—Best man... —Lucia whispered in her broken voice—. Don't let me go back to that house.
