They Mocked the Plus-Size Bride Until Her Mafia Boss Fiancé Bought the Bridal Shop and Handed Her the Keys

Part 2: “Nothing,” Elena said.

Dominic’s gray eyes settled on hers.

“Elena.”

She hated how gently he said her name. Gentleness made the pain harder to hide.

“Please don’t,” she whispered.

He approached without touching her.

“Did someone hurt you?”

“No one touched me.”

“That wasn’t my question.”

Vanessa stepped forward.

“It was an ugly misunderstanding. The sales associate was rude, and Elena decided to leave.”

Dominic did not look at her.

“Elena?”

She could not say it while standing on the sidewalk. Not with the boutique’s gold lettering behind her and the women inside pretending not to watch through the window.

“I want to go home.”

He opened the car door.

Vanessa reached for Elena’s arm, but Elena stepped away.

“I’ll call you later.”

“Elena, I really am sorry.”

Elena met her eyes.

“I know what sorry sounds like.”
