I WOKE UP AS THE MAFIA BOSS'S BRIDE AFTER MY EX BROKE ME

PART 2

I thought the fire was the worst thing Dante could show me that morning.

I was wrong.

Because after I stopped shaking long enough to breathe, he slid a tablet closer and opened another video.

It was my apartment building from just before dawn.

Three men were waiting near the entrance like they already knew I would come back alone.

One paced beside the gate.

One bribed the manager.

And the third kept checking his phone like he was waiting for permission to do something much worse than ask questions.

Then Dante zoomed in.

My blood turned cold.

The man with the scar over his eyebrow was holding a photo.

My photo.

Not a random screenshot.

Not some public event picture.

It was a private shot of me leaving rehearsal in leggings and an oversized hoodie, carrying the same makeup bag Marcus once bought me for Christmas.

That was when something inside me snapped into place.

They were not following me because I had dated the wrong man.

They were following me because Marcus had pointed them at something he believed I still had.

I told Dante Marcus never left anything valuable with me.

Dante said nothing for a second.

Then he asked me one question so calmly it made everything worse.

“Did he ever give you something cheap that he insisted you keep?”
