She spent years loving the mafia boss in silence until one night he finally claimed her in front of everyone

Part 2: He moved then.

Not fast, not dramatically. Just one step, then another, until he stood close enough that she had to tilt her head back to look at him.

“You think I leave rooms because I don’t see you?” he asked.

The elevator seemed to lose air.

“Don’t do this.”

“You think I dismiss you because I don’t respect you?”

Her voice came out smaller than she wanted. “Don’t you?”

“No, Seraphina.”

His hand rose slowly, giving her time to pull away. She did not.

His fingers brushed a strand of dark hair from her cheek and tucked it behind her ear with a tenderness so shocking it almost hurt.

“I leave rooms because every time you enter one, I forget every rule I have ever lived by.”

She stared at him.

“I dismiss you in meetings because when your eyes light up over a strategy no one else in the room was smart enough to see, all I can think about is how dangerous you are.”

“Dangerous?”

“To me.”

His thumb grazed her jaw.

She could hear her own pulse.

“Sebastian…”

“You are Lorenzo’s daughter,” he said, voice roughening. “My father’s most trusted adviser’s child. Twelve years younger than me. Brilliant. Stubborn. Too proud for your own safety. And completely off-limits.”

She swallowed.

“And yet?”

His eyes dropped to her mouth for one devastating second.

“And yet I have wanted you for years.”

The confession hit her so hard she reached for the mirrored wall behind her.
