The Doctors Declared the Mafia Boss Dead Until the Maid Everyone Mocked Refused to Let Him Freeze Alone

Part 2: Nothing.

Then another weak beat tapped against her hand.

Her whole body went rigid.

“Oh my God.”

She scrambled upright, nearly slipping from the table. She grabbed the heart monitor leads and fumbled for the switch. The machine flickered awake with a low electronic whine. For several terrible seconds, the screen remained flat.

Then a small spike appeared.

A beep.

Ten seconds passed.

Another spike.

Another beep.

Hannah screamed.

Lorenzo Moretti came back to life with a sound like a man drowning under ice.

His chest jerked upward. His mouth opened in a harsh, ragged gasp. His eyes flew open, black and wild with pain, and locked on Hannah so fiercely she stumbled backward and nearly fell off the table.

“You,” he rasped.

“I’m sorry!” Hannah sobbed, clutching the sheet to her chest. “I’m so sorry. You were cold. I didn’t know what else to do. Please don’t be angry.”

The monitor kept beeping.
