The Mafia Boss Came Home Early and Found His Maid Whispering “Stay Silent”

Part 2

Sophia led Matteo down through the oldest part of the estate, into a damp brick shaft once used during Prohibition to move liquor beneath the mansion. Above them, Damian’s men patrolled the halls, unaware that the man they had come to ambush was slipping beneath their feet.

In the wine cellar, Matteo pressed his thumb behind a rack of vintage Bordeaux. The wall opened to reveal an armory hidden in concrete and steel.

Sophia froze.

Rifles, vests, encrypted phones, ammunition, cash, passports.

Matteo stripped off his ruined jacket and began arming himself with terrifying efficiency. “Put on a vest.”

“I know how to move quietly,” she said. “I’m not trained for war.”

“Tonight, quiet is training.”

He tossed her a tactical vest. She strapped it over her maid’s uniform with shaking hands.

For one strange second, Matteo looked at her not as a servant, not as a liability, but as a woman who had walked into a lion’s den for the brother she loved.

“You can still walk away,” he said. “I’ll find Thomas.”

Sophia lifted her chin. “Damian took my brother. Camila took your sister. I’m not walking away while they breathe free air.”

A dark, reluctant respect moved across his face.

The drainage tunnel carried them beneath the storm and out to the coast, where Matteo kept a hidden Audi inside a rusted shipping container. By the time they reached Pier 40, rain was slashing sideways across the waterfront.

Sophia hacked the cameras from the passenger seat while Matteo moved through the guards like a shadow.

Cold. Precise. Silent.

Inside the warehouse, the air smelled of rust, diesel, and salt water. Sophia guided him down to the sublevels, through the boiler room, to a row of reinforced holding cages.

“Lily!” Matteo shouted.

A young woman with tangled blonde hair crawled toward the bars, sobbing when she saw him.

“They said you were dead,” she cried.

“I’m here,” Matteo whispered, breaking the lock and pulling his sister into his arms.

At the far end, Sophia fell to her knees before another cage.

“Thomas.”

Her brother was alive, barely. Bruised, starved, trembling—but alive.

When Matteo cut the lock, Thomas gripped his vest with desperate strength.

“Mr. Falcone,” he rasped. “You don’t understand. Camila isn’t Camila Rossi.”

Matteo went still.

Thomas coughed through bloodied lips. “She’s Camila Moretti. Don Lorenzo Moretti’s hidden daughter from Naples. The engagement was a Trojan horse. Damian wasn’t taking your empire for himself. He was handing it to your father’s oldest enemy.”

For a moment, no one moved.
