The Mafia Boss Mocked His Curvy Wife’s Cooking—Until One Dinner Stopped a Mafia War, Made His Enemies Beg for Peace, and Changed His Empire Forever

The Mafia Boss Mocked His Curvy Wife’s Cooking—Until One Dinner Stopped a Mafia War, Made His Enemies Beg for Peace, and Changed His Empire Forever

The sound that ruined Lucian Moretti’s perfect evening was not a gunshot.

It was porcelain.

A whole stack of hand-painted Italian plates exploded across the marble kitchen floor… followed by the heavy thud of his famous chef collapsing beside them.

Lucian went still.

In forty-two minutes, five crime families would be sitting in his dining room.

Five old grudges.

Five men who could turn one insult, one cold plate, one badly placed chair into a bloodbath.

Tonight was supposed to end a territorial war without anyone dying.

And now the only man who could cook the dinner was being carried out on a stretcher, gray-faced and burning with fever.

“Call every private chef in the city,” Lucian ordered. “Buy a restaurant if you have to.”

His underboss shook his head. “Even if we find someone, they won’t get through security in time.”

For the first time that night, Lucian felt control slipping out of his hands.

Then a quiet voice came from the doorway.

“I can cook.”

Every man in the kitchen turned.

Elena Moretti stood there in a simple dark blue dress, sleeves rolled up to her elbows.

Lucian’s wife.

His arranged marriage.

The soft, overlooked woman he had married for an alliance and barely bothered to know.

One assistant cook lowered his eyes like he was embarrassed for her.

Elena noticed.

Lucian did too.

“This isn’t dinner for cousins,” he said.

“I know.”

“These men don’t forgive embarrassment.”

“I know that too.”

Then Elena stepped past him, tied an apron around her waist, and picked up a knife.

Lucian looked at the clock.

Forty minutes.

Elena pointed at the untouched tray of seafood.

“Throw that out.”

The assistant froze. “But Chef Rinaldi said—”

“Throw it out,” Elena repeated. “It smells tired.”

The whole kitchen went silent.

Lucian stared at his wife, because in five seconds, she had noticed something his entire staff had missed all day.

And suddenly, he wondered what else he had never seen.

Elena moved like someone who had fed hungry people before.

Not like a rich man’s wife pretending to help.
