The Mafia Boss’s Guard Dog Bit Every Man Who Touched Him Until a Plus-Size Assistant Whispered Three Words and Made Him Kneel

Part 2: “A dachshund,” Frank replied. “Try to keep up.”

Dominic began passing through the garden more often.

Sometimes he asked about Bruno’s diet. Sometimes he asked about exercise. Occasionally he asked questions whose answers he already knew.

Daisy seemed unaware that a man who charged thousands of dollars for ten minutes of his attention was spending half an hour listening to her describe a Chihuahua convinced he was a wolf.

“What happened when the Chihuahua challenged the German shepherd?” Dominic asked.

“The German shepherd apologized.”

Dominic laughed.

Only once.

Quietly.

The entire kennel went still.

A young recruit stared. “I didn’t know he could do that.”

The news spread through the estate faster than a security alert.

By lunchtime, the kitchen staff knew the boss had laughed.

By dinner, the accountants had heard he had laughed twice.

The following afternoon, Daisy found Dominic standing alone near the training field.

His jacket was off, and his sleeves were rolled to his forearms. He looked tired in a way sleep would not fix.

“Long day?” she asked.

“I’ve had worse.”

“I once lost six Labradors at the same time.”

“That is not comparable.”

“You’d be surprised. They found a pond.”

Dominic looked toward her.

“I was wearing new shoes,” Daisy continued. “The shoes never recovered.”

He laughed again.

She grinned. “See? It already happened. Better to laugh.”

The words stayed with him.

Dominic had spent most of his adult life anticipating betrayal. He controlled rooms because being surprised could get people killed. He trusted contracts more than promises and surveillance more than affection.

He could not remember the last time anyone had told him simply to laugh at what could not be changed.

That night, Bruno refused to sleep in his expensive kennel.
