The millionaire installed hidden cameras to expose the nanny, but what his little boy did on the recording shattered him

Part 2: Alexander blinked. “Of course.”

“If he cries?”

“Yes.”

“If he misses his mother?”

The air changed.

Alexander felt it. Claire felt it. Even the house seemed to hold still.

He slid one hand into his pocket. “You may acknowledge it without encouraging fixation.”

“Children do not grieve less because adults refuse to name what they lost.”

His eyes sharpened. “Are you always this direct in interviews?”

“Only when a child’s emotional safety is in the job description.”

Alexander almost dismissed her then.

He imagined saying, Thank you for your time. He imagined calling his assistant and demanding someone who understood boundaries. He imagined turning back toward the kind of controlled loneliness he knew how to manage.

Instead, from upstairs, there was a soft thump.

Both of them looked toward the ceiling.

“Noah?” Claire asked.

Alexander did not answer. He was already walking.

At the door of Noah’s room, he knocked once and opened it.

His son sat on the rug surrounded by wooden blocks. A tower lay collapsed beside him. Noah looked at the doorway with those careful hazel eyes.

“Did you fall?” Alexander asked.
