The Night His Curvy Secretary Wore Red Was the Night Chicago Learned Who Owned His Heart

Part 2: The moment his gaze touched her, heat rushed up her neck. Not shame. Not exactly fear.

Recognition.

He looked at her like she had stepped out of every secret thought he had ever refused to confess.

For one second, the room vanished.

Then Brett Ashford stepped into her path.

He wore a midnight-blue tuxedo and a smile that looked practiced in mirrors. Pale blond hair, cold gray eyes, elegant hands. The kind of man who seemed polished until you noticed the cruelty underneath.

“Miss Costa,” he said. “Finally.”

Giana stopped near the champagne fountain. “Mr. Ashford.”

His gaze dropped.

Slowly.

Deliberately.

Over her neckline. Her waist. Her hips.

Something inside her went cold.

“I must say,” he murmured, “Ferraro has been selfish keeping you hidden upstairs. If I had known the brains of his empire looked like this, I would have made my offer much sooner.”

Giana took a champagne flute from a passing waiter, mostly to give her hands something to do.

“I am not part of the offer,” she said.

Ashford smiled. “Everyone is part of an offer. The only question is price.”

“My price is higher than your liquidity.”

His smile tightened.
