"You Look Too Beautiful" — The Mafia Boss Swore He'd Never Let Another Man Lay Eyes on His Maid

PART 2 — The Girl He Tried To Turn Into A Fortress

Leo released her wrist slowly.

That was the first strange thing.

Not the threat. Not the photograph. Not the way his face emptied of all expression until it became something colder than anger.

The strange thing was that he let go.

Rowan pulled her hand back against her chest. His bloody fingerprints circled her skin like a bracelet made by violence.

“Who took that?” she whispered.

Leo was already reaching for his phone.

“Someone close enough to die.”

He pressed one number.

The call connected immediately.

“Lock the estate,” he said. “No one leaves. No one enters. Pull every exterior camera on the east wing. I want staff logs, guard rotations, kitchen deliveries, and all outgoing signals for the last hour.”

A voice answered on the other end. Rowan heard only a low murmur.

Leo’s eyes stayed on the window.

“No,” he said. “Quietly. If the leak knows we know, we lose the trail.”

He ended the call.

The study seemed larger now, every shadow holding a possible witness. Rain struck the windows. Blood darkened the rug. Rowan stood beside the chair with a first-aid kit open at her feet and understood that invisibility had been the only protection she ever had.

Leo looked at her.

“You will stay in this room until I move you.”

“No.”

The word escaped before survival could stop it.

His gaze sharpened.

Rowan swallowed, but did not take it back.

“I mean, no, sir. I did what you told me. I cleaned the wound. I didn’t call anyone. I didn’t ask questions. I need to go back to staff quarters.”

“You were photographed treating me.”

“I didn’t choose that.”
